Please read this policy carefully if your vehicle does not have a title.
Required Information - ALL Sellers Must Provide:
- 1Make/Model/Year/VIN/Color of the vehicle
- 2Valid State Identification or Passport (buyer will retain a scan or copy)
- 3Current mailing address, phone number, and email
- 4Reason why no title is present (abandoned vehicle or lost title)
- 5Last known name used to title the vehicle
- 6Reason for selling (totaled, major repair required, missing parts, etc.)
- 7Where or who was the vehicle purchased from / how did it come into your possession?
- 8How long has the vehicle been in your possession?
- 9Certify you are the owner of the vehicle
- 10Certify that there are no liens on the vehicle
Additional Requirement for Vehicles 10 Years or Newer
In addition to the above, vehicles 10 years or newer WITHOUT a title must provide ONE of the following:
- Registration matching seller's name with VIN matching the vehicle
- OR
- Proof of Purchase
Important Information:
- Using the above information, Lewis Salvage will submit an application for "Certificate of Authority – Disposal of a Vehicle" to the state of Indiana BMV on the seller's behalf.
- Seller must be present at the time of payment. No payments will be sent via mail or other means for vehicles purchased without titles.
- Making a false statement may constitute the crime of perjury.
- Lewis Salvage will deduct $20 from the purchase of each vehicle if no title is present at the time of sale. This covers costs associated with proper filing with the BMV.
